Gullane

Its not at all hard to be confused by local residents when staying Gullane. You hear it called "Gillane" and Gullane and whatever suits your tastes, works. Many say they have never seen a seagill but as we all know you dont have to travel far in this country to hear completely different pronouciations of the same words.

Whichever way you say it, it never quite captures the feel of this idyllic village nestling against its wonderful bents, golf courses, Goose Green and outstanding beach.

Whether you are a walker - the John Muir trail passes your door step and leads you on a wondrous walk along the magnificent coastline especially east towards North Berwick - a golfer - 5 outstanding links a short walk away including what many say is the best links of them all - the incomparable Muirfield - or a lover of wonderful beachs - Gullane has it all and more.

Often overlooked by many wanting to be in North Berwick, they dont know what they are missing! It is a great destination for families and golfers alike. Sitting in the afternoon sun outside the Old Clubhouse Hotel enjoying a quiet sip whilst watching the kids play on the children's golf course right in front of you is a perfect holiday passtime!

There are excellent local shops, a good selection of hotels such as the Old Clubhouse who provide great food and ambience. La Potiniere restaurant is very special and you must book if you would like to enjoy top qualitly french cuisine. We recommend it!!
